FAC191

FAC191 is innovative first and foremost... we always strive for a new sound, a new idea. Our music creates a raw wall of sound that hovers somewhere between grunge, shoegaze, and noise rock, with a touch of synthesizer in the mix. The link to the Factory label from the early days (Hacienda cat) is evident in the driving doom vibes.

Biography

Over the past year, we have mainly been busy gigging. We practice hard for this every week. We would prefer to break into the Amsterdam scene. We feel as one with that audience. Venues where we most see ourselves play are places like Occii, de Vrankrijk, and eventually Paradiso. At the moment, we are in the Zaandam underground scene. We perform at Zaanstad venues, such as de Groote Weiver, De Kade, Indieplayground, and squats.

Practicing isn't just for performances, but also for creating new music. The synth and bass guitar alternate per song, allowing us to try to create maximum sound with minimal manpower and instruments. However, melody also plays an important role for us. We want to channel the sound into paths in the form of melody. We want an audience that is completely moved by those paths. We find it important to always stay true to ourselves in terms of musical style and not let ourselves be distracted by the opinions and judgments of others.

FAC191 also has a vision. A left-wing anti-capitalist one. In doing so, we sometimes make difficult choices. For instance, we will never put our music on Spotify. We disagree with how Spotify treats artists and where Spotify's profits go, as they support the arms trade. We do sell merchandise, but we make minimal profit on it, with a portion going to charity. We create everything ourselves: promotional posters, logos, stickers, merchandise, etc. We are going to record music soon. This way, we will get into the Amsterdam scene faster. We won't do the recording entirely ourselves, but almost. Once that product is ready, we will put it on Tidal. We do find ourselves in their vision.

In other words, where we want to go: we want to get into the Amsterdam scene. To achieve this, we want to do as much as possible ourselves. This stems from our anti-capitalist vision. We are also going to record music as soon as possible and put music on Tidal, not Spotify. The goal of this is also to establish ourselves more in Amsterdam. Finally, we will always stay true to ourselves and our musical style: a wall of sound in waves of melody.
